Menards fatal parking lot crash; employee struck by co-worker
BURLINGTON, Wis. - One person is dead after an accident in the parking lot of Menards in Burlington. It happened on Sunday, Feb. 2 around 9 p.m. at the store on Milwaukee Avenue.

Burlington police and fire were dispatched to the scene for reports of an accident involving a person pinned between two vehicles.

Upon arrival, officials discovered a man who had sustained injuries as a result of the incident. Despite life-saving efforts, the individual was pronounced dead at the scene.
The preliminary investigation indicates those involved in this incident were employed at Menards and were leaving a work meeting at the store.

The victim was attempting to remove items from the trunk of his vehicle when he was struck by another co-worker’s vehicle. The business was closed at the time of the incident.
The deceased has been identified as a 21-year-old Cody Dorn, a Burlington resident.

The operator of the striking vehicle was identified as a 20-year-old man from the Town of Burlington. He was not injured during the incident and is cooperating with law enforcement efforts to conduct a thorough investigation.
At the time of this release, no criminal charges are being pursued.

What we know:
The store reopened Monday. Employees and the 21-year-old's family did not want to talk, but co-workers said the man will be extremely missed.
In a statement through the Burlington Police Department, Dorn's family said: "Cody was a hardworking, give you the shirt off his back kind of kid. He graduated from Burlington High School in 2022. While working at Menards, he attended WCTC, where he maintained a 4.0 grade point average. He recently graduated with his associate’s degree in accounting. In his free time, he loved playing video games and spending time with his girlfriend. He is loved and will be missed by so many."
