Germantown tavern ransacked, workers tied up

GERMANTOWN (WITI) -- "Brazen." That's how one neighbor describes the early-morning armed robbery at the Last Stop Saloon in the Town of Germantown.

According to officials, a 27-year-old Hartford man exited the tavern shortly after 1 a.m. Monday, September 29th and was confronted by multiple men that were wearing masks and carrying firearms. Officials say the group of suspects then escorted the Hartford man back into the bar -- at which time the suspects then confronted the bartender, a 21 year-old Hartford woman.

Several of the suspects then proceeded into an attached apartment and woke up three additional residents. Those residents were a 32 year-old male, a 21 year-old female and a four-year-old child.

The establishment was then ransacked and an undetermined amount of cash was taken. The victims were then escorted into the basement where several of them were tied up and the actors fled.

Investigators say there were not any additional customers in establishment at the time of the incident and no one was hurt.

Eileen Stroud tends bar about a mile away at R.T.'s Sports Corner -- where she says the alleged crime will be the conversation.

"We just don't have things, like that, happening in this area. It's just--that freaks me out, a little bit!" said Stroud.

R.T.'s owner Robin Bird says while no one was hurt, the alleged crime has him checking his 14-camera security system.

"Evidently, we have to be a little more aware of our surroundings and start paying a little closer attention to what's going on," said Bird.

Anyone with information on this robbery is encouraged to contact the Washington County Sheriff’s Office at 262-335-4378.
