"Like fireworks going off:" Two women shot in Kenosha, potential suspect leads police on chase

KENOSHA -- Kenosha police are investigating a shooting that sent two people to the hospital early Saturday morning, November 7th. That incident sparked a high-speed chase involving a possible suspect. Police say everything began to unfold around 3 a.m. Saturday, near 62nd St. and 15th Ave.

The shooting took place one block away from where two people were shot on Monday, November 2nd. The crime scene covers a large area from Highway 50, across a parking lot to several homes in the 1500 block of 62nd Street, where police remained on scene into the afternoon. Robert Hernandez wasn't expecting to work alongside Kenosha police, but as he builds onto his porch, police were reconstructing a crime scene a few doors down.

Kenosha shooting and high-speed chase"It's good and bad everywhere," said Hernandez. Initial reports from police say two women were shot around 3:30 in the morning. Hernandez says he slept through the gunfire. "There was nothing I could do to help the police. I was asleep, I didn't hear anything," said Hernandez. That was not the case for a neighbor on the other end of the block.

"Like fireworks going off, you know? And I see out the window, the police came right away," said the Christian Dominguez. Police say the women were taken to the hospital -- their condition is unknown at this time. Kenosha police say a possible suspect led police on a high speed chase that was called off when the fleeing car crossed into Illinois. Residents on 62nd Street say trouble isn't new to their area of town. Monitor FOX6 News and FOX6Now.com for updates on this developing story.
