Greenfield officer accused of roughing up female inmate
GREENFIELD (WITI) -- A Greenfield police officer could face criminal charges for allegedly roughing up a female inmate in a police booking room.
According to Greenfield police, 30-year-old Amanda Luke led them on a slow-speed pursuit near 60th and Forest Home in July. An officer saw that she was driving on a rim and tried to pull her over. She kept going -- and the officer pursued her for a mile before using his vehicle to force her to stop.
According to reports, Luke, who has three prior drunk driving convictions, refused to take a breath test. So she was arrested and charged with two felony counts of eluding police and driving while revoked.
But it's what happened back at the police station that has one officer in big trouble. Sources tell FOX6 News, Luke was yelling at an officer and may have poked him in the chest. The officer then reportedly lifted Luke up by the armpits and threw her to the ground, uttering a profanity at her in the process.
The entire incident was captured on a booking area video camera. But according to Greenfield Police Chief Brad Wentlandt, they are not releasing anything at this time.
The officer in this case has been placed on administrative leave with pay -- as required by law. He has no prior disciplinary history.
Chief Wentlendt reported the incident in question to Milwaukee County District Attorney John Chisholm back on July 29th. The Milwaukee County District Attorney's Office says it could be two more weeks before any decision on charges is made against the officer.
