Crash causes canopy of West Allis Farmers Market to collapse
WEST ALLIS (WITI) -- A woman driving a mini-van struck a brick support pillar at one of the pavilions at the West Allis Farmers Market Thursday, June 6th. It caused the canopy to collapse.
According to officials, the incident occurred shortly after 1 p.m.
Nobody was hurt as a result of the crash.
The structure that was hit is roughly 100 years old. It received a facelift a few years ago, but the foundation is old.
For safety reasons, the West Allis Fire Department cut off the damaged part of the roof from the rest of that pavilion.
The West Allis Farmers Market is still going on in two of the four pavilions at the site.
