Canadian bikers burglarized during stay for H-D 110th Anniversary

WAUWATOSA (WITI) -- Tim Viik of British Columbia, Canada, in town for the Harley-Davidson 110th Anniversary Celebration, says he and his wife had several belongings stolen from their Radisson hotel room in Wauwatosa.

Viik and his wife were celebrating at Maier Festival Park on Thursday afternoon, August 29th, when someone went into their room without permission and took many important items.

"The first thing we noticed was all the new stuff that we bought the day before that we had laid out on the extra queen bed was missing," said Viik.

In addition to several souvenir items that had been purchased earlier, someone had stolen the couple's leather riding jackets, expensive jewelry, credit cards, passports, phone and camera chargers, and a laptop.

The hotel's general manager told FOX6, "we want all of our guests to be safe in our hotel. We take this very seriously and are doing everything in our power to help in the investigation."

The hotel informed Viik and his wife that they are not responsible for personal items taken from the room. They are, however, working with police during the investigation.

The picture just below are considered persons of interest in this case. If you recognize either of the African-American men in these photos, you're strongly encouraged to call Wauwatosa Police at 414-471-8430.

Viik wants other foreign riders to be aware of their possessions and advises taking their passports with them when leaving the hotel room.

"We're still trying to make the best of the weekend. We come down here to enjoy ourselves and that's what we're going to try and do still," said Viik.

The Viik's are working to get their passport situation straightened out so they can plan the rest of their trip, which had included a ride to the Grand Canyon. The couple will also need to purchase new leathers because, they say, they won't ride on a highway without them.

If you'd like to help out this couple in some way, you're urged to call the Radisson Hotel at 414-257-3400 and direct any calls to the Viik's room (pronounced Veek).
