Caledonia house fire; several crews respond, home destroyed

Crews responded to a house fire in Caledonia on Thursday morning, Dec. 12.

Multiple crews from Racine County and around the county were called out to the home near Highway 38 and Four Mile Road on Thursday.

First responders spent hours working to get the fire under control, but the flames eventually spread. This started a brush fire nearby.

The Caledonia Police Department said a family inside the house did escape to a neighbor’s home.

First responders said there was difficulty knocking down the flames in the cold temperatures, but after several hours they were able to put the fire out.

The family that evacuated is expected to be okay, but police say their home is destroyed.

There is currently no word on what caused the fire.
