Brewers players visit parking lot during fan appreciation day

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- Although the Milwaukee Brewers will end the season with a losing record, it was the fans who won during fan appreciation day on Saturday, September 21st.

About an hour and a half before the start of the game, 25 carts full of Brewers players wound their way through the parking lot outside Miller Park, greeting fans and handing out gifts. There were plenty of giveaways during the game as well.

"You can win everything from a new Chevy to all sorts of different memorabilia and things like that," said Tyler Barnes, Vice President of Communications for the Brewers.

Barnes says that during a difficult season including the losing record, Braun suspension and numerous injuries, he's thankful for the way the fans have reacted.

"The fan support has never wavered. We're going to end up north of 2.5 million fans. It's a tremendous number, tremendous support and we don't take that for granted," said Barnes. "It's incredible, I mean, you're looking at baseball's smallest market. I've always said, since I've been here, it's the fan base that over delivers."

Fans say the connection with the team is something to be treasured.

"These guys love us, I think, as much as we love them. It's a great relationship, a great connection, and the Brewers are just the best. And so are the fans," said Brewers fan, Karen.

The Brewers finish out their home season Sunday night, September 22nd.
