Officials tell FOX6 News the body, that of a middle-aged adult male, was transported to the medical examiner's office. Identification of the body is pending -- but a source tells FOX6 News police believe they know who it is, and that it is a local man.

An autopsy has been scheduled for Tuesday.

It was not the easiest of recoveries, according to one first responder.

Rescue workers cut down heavy brush and took a boat down a bank to Pike Creek, where the battalion chief said the water was deep and rushing.

The recovery took about two hours.

"Obviously, you saw we used some of our equipment to be successful with that -- but that's what we would do on a daily basis," Matthew Haerter with the Kenosha Fire Department said.

Eleven days ago, Kenosha police responded to another body discovered in Simmons Island Park after a brush fire. That victim was identified as 39-year-old Steven Kortwright of Kenosha. Further tests are pending, but a source tells FOX6 News that the death looks as though it was accidental.

As for the Pike Creek body, Kenosha police say they are still investigating to determine how and why this man died.

Kenosha police ask that if you have any information that could help in this investigation, that you give them a call.
