Arrest made in $20,000 theft at Mitchell International Airport

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- Detectives from the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office have arrested a man they say is connected to a $20,000 theft at Mitchell International Airport.

The theft happened in December 2012 at the airport. The suspect stole $20,000 in cash from the Host Marriott Services (HMS), which maintains all of the concessions at the airport. Detectives identified the man during their investigation and issued an arrest warrant for Tewodros Argaw. Detectives tracked Argaw to Chicago, after he had initially fled to Istanbul, Turkey.

In October 2013, detectives determined Argaw was back in the United States in the Chicago area and notified the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force, who arrested him last week.

Argaw is awaiting extradition to Wisconsin and will face a charge of Theft-Moveable Property >$10,000, a Class G Felony which carries a penalty of up to ten years in prison.
