Advocates of Ozaukee former executive director accused of internal theft

OZAUKEE COUNTY, Wis. - The former executive director for "Advocates of Ozaukee" is accused of internal theft. The organization helps domestic and sexual abuse victims.

FOX6 is not naming that person because she has not been formally charged. 

"We are an organization that also got victimized," said Antonella Aleman-Zientek, former board member for Advocates of Ozaukee.

Aleman-Zientek resigned from her position on the board of directors of Advocates of Ozaukee.

"The perception of this is, if we engage into a mutual agreement with her, it will look as if she was negotiating her criminal liability," Aleman-Zientek said.

Aleman-Zientek is also an assistant district attorney for Ozaukee County. Her resignation follows a July 30 board meeting, where she said the board discussed the former executive director, who is under investigation by the Washington County Sheriff's Office.

"They were still holding retirement functions for her rather than she was on leave because of a potential criminal investigation. All of that was very problematic for me," Aleman-Zientek said.

The Washington County Sheriff's Office called the investigation complex and took months to complete. The office recommended the charge of theft in a business setting value of property exceeding $5,000 but not exceeding $10,000. Those charges are still under review.

FOX6 News did reach out to other board members for comment. No one got back to FOX6 News in time for this story. 

FOX6 News also called the woman under investigation, who did answer the phone but said no comment. The district attorney's office has not responded if or when formal charges will be filed.
