Forecast from FOX6 Chief Meteorologist Rob Haswell
MILWAUKEE - Thursday is a classic early April split setup across southern Wisconsin. We start with freezing rain and quickly pivot into a high-shear severe weather environment by late afternoon and evening.
Even with limited instability, the dynamics are strong enough to support damaging winds and a quick spin-up tornado risk as storms organize into a line.
Friday keeps things active with elevated storms and a significant hail threat despite cooler surface temps, before things trend quieter but cooler into the weekend.
From there, we settle into a more typical early spring pattern with on-and-off rain or snow chances and another system to watch heading into the middle of next week.
