Wave top Silver Knights, 13-10

MILWAUKEE --  Heading into their matchup Saturday the Wave and Silver Knights were two teams headed in opposite directions, as the Wave had a seven game winning streak and Syracuse a four game losing streak. The results would be the same, as the Wave came out on top 13-10 extending their winning streak to eight and 9-2 overall.

After both teams exhibited strong defensive play, the Silver Knights finally broke through late in the first quarter as Bryan Perez scored on a power play to give Syracuse a 2-0 lead. They increased their lead early on in the second quarter making it 4-0 on a goal by Neto. The Wave answered as Hewerton scored to make the game 4-2. Syracuse would counter as Bozidar Jelovac put one in the net to give Syracuse a 6-2 lead at half.

The third opened up with Syracuse extending their lead to 8-2 when Jon Gruenewald found the back of the net. The Wave turned up their play near the end of the quarter as Tenzin Rampa and Nick Perera both scored to trim Syracuse’s lead to 8-6 heading into the final quarter. The Wave tied the game at eight early into the fourth quarter when Hewerton scored his second goal of the game. Soon after, the Wave took their first lead of the night on a three point goal by Marcio Leite. A penalty on Jonatan Santos gave Syracuse a power play that they capitalized on when Bryan Perez scored his second goal of the night to put the score at 11-10. Marcelo Fontana would add a two point goal to extend the Wave’s lead to 13-10 and give the Wave a victory.

The Wave’s next game is January 10th at 7:35 p.m. at Missouri.
