SF 49ers defeat Green Bay Packers in season opener, 34-28
GREEN BAY (WITI) -- The Green Bay Packers kicked off their 95th season Sunday, September 8th against the San Francisco 49ers at Candlestick Park, and were defeated in the season opener, 34-28.
This was the second consecutive year that the Packers have opened their season against the 49ers; They suffered their third loss in 12 months to the defending NFC Champs.
The Packers defense hung in against Colin Kaepernick for a half (14-14), but coach Dom Capers unit had no answer for Anquan Boldin. The man who helped the Baltimore Ravens beat San Francisco in the Super Bowl caught 13 passes for 208 yards and a td. Kaepernick threw for 412 yards and 3 touchdowns; Aaron Rodgers went for 333 yards and 3 td passes.
Jordy Nelson caught 7 passes for 130 yards and a score; Eddie Lacy found the end zone for the first time as as a pro on a 2-yard run, but the rookie had a costly fumble that led to seven points for the Niners. He gained 41 yards on 14 carries behind an offensive line that had trouble opening holes.
