Packers defeat defending Super Bowl champs, Ravens 19-17

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- The Green Bay Packers on Sunday, October 13th defeated the defending Super Bowl champions, the Baltimore Ravens, 19-17.

But the win did not come easy, the Packers struggled to get into the redzone in the first half and depended on 2 Mason Crosby Field Goals for scoring.  At halftime, the Packers led the Ravens, 6-0.

The Packers lack of scoring in the first half could have been because of the injuries of 2 Green Bay Wide Receivers, James Jones and Randall Cobb. James left in the 2nd series with a shin injury when he was hit from behind while blocking Packer's RB Eddie Lacy. Cobb left towards the end of the 2nd quarter with a knee injury after he was hit catching a pass up the middle from QB Aaron Rodgers.

Packers Head Coach Mike McCarthy told the media in the post game news conference that they will know more on the seriousness of the injuries tomorrow.

Green Bay was still depending on Mason Crosby's right foot in the 3rd Quarter, when he hit a 50 yarder to make it 9-0.

A Raven's 23 yard FG from Justin Tucker, shortly after Croby's FG, made it 9-3.

It wasn't until the end of the 3rd Q that the Pack finally started to pick up some momentum. Rodgers threw a 64 yard touchdown pass to Jordy Nelson to make it 16-3 Pack.

The Ravens would find some "mo mo" of their own in the 4th when QB Joe Flacco found Jacoby Jones for an 11 yd score. Baltimore was inching closer, making it a 16-10 game.

But Mason Crosby added some insurance for Green Bay making a 31 yard FG and made it 19-10.  Crosby finished the day 4/5 with 13 points.

Baltimore would go down fighting, Dallas Clark caught a 18 yd pass from Flacco and the Ravens were with in 2 points (19-17).

But the Packers were able to run out the clock and keep possession, partly thanks to an Eddie Lacy slide into a first down in the last 1:30 of the game and win 19-17. Green Bay is now 3 and 2 and has a winning record for the first time this season.

For Green Bay, this was the first of back-to-back games against an AFC North club, with the Packers hosting the Browns in Week 7. When the Packers face Cleveland next week, it will be their third AFC North contest  in a four-game span (Week 3 at Cincinnati).
