Former Wave coach says he'll start soccer academy

MILWAUKEE (AP) — The former longtime coach of the Milwaukee Wave professional indoor soccer team says he's starting a soccer academy.

The Wave announced last week that Coach Keith Tozer and the Wave had "amicably" parted ways after 21 years.

At a news conference Tuesday Tozer refused to characterize his departure as a firing but indicated he had reached an agreement with Wave owner Sue Black. Tozer had two years remaining on his contract.

Tozer led the Wave to six league championships and impacted the community through the team's summer camp program and through players taking on youth coaching responsibilities with area clubs and high school teams.

Tozer announced the K. Tozer Soccer Academy, which will open in June at various locations in southeastern Wisconsin.
