Brewers to honor service members during Memorial Day game

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- On Monday, May 27th—Memorial Day at Miller Park, the Brewers will honor those who serve and have served with a series of events before and during the 1:10 p.m. Brewers vs. Twins game.

A “mass first pitch” will bring a mix of over 40 active members of the military, veterans and military dependents to the field to toss out ceremonial first pitches to Brewers and Twins players prior to the game.  Color Guards from the Army Navy, Marines and Air Force will also participate in the pregame ceremonies on the field, and the National Anthem will be performed by Staff Sergeant Korin Saal.

Several thousand tickets have been provided by the Brewers to USO-Wisconsin and Veterans Administration groups so active and retired members of the military can enjoy Monday’s game with their families.  In addition, proceeds from Monday’s Brewers Community Foundation 50 / 50 Raffle will be donated to the USO-Wisconsin.

The Brewers will also wear special Memorial Day caps and jerseys featuring a special Desert Camo design.  Both are currently on sale at the Brewers Team Store by Majestic at Miller Park.  MLB will donate 100% of its net proceeds from sales of the special caps and jerseys to Welcome Back Veterans as a part of its contribution to the program.

At 3 p.m., all of MLB will join in the National Moment of Remembrance where all games will stop for a moment of silence.
