MILWAUKEE -- Black Friday may have come and gone, but for Brewers fans, waiting in long lines and snatching up sales was saved for Friday, November 30th. The Brewers 32nd annual Clubhouse Sale at Miller Park is on for the weekend.
The sale didn't start until 8 a.m., but even as early as 6 a.m., the lines reached more than a hundred deep. When the doors opened, several hundred more made their way down to the Visitor’s Clubhouse for some of the hottest Brewers items just before the holidays.
“Lots of shirts, t-shirts, golf shirts,” said Brewers fan Mary Riemer.
“I got some little bobble heads and some shirts. I’m getting Christmas presents,” said Brewers fan John LeClair.
LeClair traveled all the way from Luxemburg, near Green Bay, for the deep discounts. Items were selling for up to 75 percent off.
“For sports memorabilia, the packers have a big sale in June usually. The Brewers have a sale now, so I usually hit that and try to get Christmas presents at that time,” he said.
From jerseys, to hats, to balls and even bats, they grabbed what they can stuff under the tree. Some, even going for as low as $1.
Rare game-used merchandise was on sale too.
“Batting helmets, bats, jerseys, the tags from above the lockers that the guys dress in all year,” said Brewers Spokesman Tyler Barnes.
“These are more unique items that I can get here than at a department store,” said Riemer.
New this year, every 25th customer received a bottle to remind them of the historic 2011 season.
“A champagne bottle from the 2011 playoffs, which is another unique thing, that you really don't see lying around all the time,” said Barnes.
It's a big thank you to fans for being supportive through the years, and with lots of inventory to go, this truly is the Brew Crew fan's Black Friday opportunity.
The Clubhouse Sale runs until 7 p.m. Friday and from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday. It's in the visiting clubhouse. Coupons will be handed out to those spending more than $100.
Shoppers can access the Clubhouse Sale by entering Miller Park at the Hot Corner entrance near the Brewers Team Store by Majestic and following the posted directions to the visiting clubhouse. Cash and credit cards will be accepted (no personal checks). Admission and parking is free.
