Beyond the Game: Lake Geneva baseball player, Donald Schnurer

LAKE GENEVA (WITI) -- High school baseball player Donald Schnurer isn't big on attention, but he is a big hit both on and off the field.

Not only does Schnurer, a Lake Geneva junior love the game of baseball, he is an exceptional player in more ways than one.

Schnurer bats, pitches and plays the outfield, despite missing his right forearm and two fingers. His wrist connects to his upper arm where his elbow would be.

Schnurer is a humble young man who was never into sitting around and feeling sorry for himself. Meanwhile, those close to him have taken notice and inspiration from his "nothing can stop me" attitude.

Schnurer doesn't like to draw attention to himself, but if the way he deals with his challenge helps others, he says he will be grateful for sharing his story.

Schnurer and his Lake Geneva Badgers teammates won their conference championship on Tuesday, May 21st.
