Badgers roll past Hoosiers in to Big 10 Tournament final
CHICAGO (WITI) -- Despite winning the last 11 meetings between the 2 teams, the Wisconsin Badgers were underdogs to the Indiana Hoosiers in the Big 10 Tournament semi-finals Saturday. That had no effect on the Badgers who used a series of runs to knock of the Hoosiers for the 12th straight time, 68-56.
Unlike Thursday's game against Michigan, Wisconsin played consistently for 40 minutes. The Badgers were strong inside early in the first half, which opened up the outside as they took a 34-31 lead into the break.
In the second half, it was more of the same balanced approach that allowed them to withstand the Hoosiers 10-0 run midway through the half that gave IU a 41-40 lead. The Badgers responded with a 10-2 run, capped off by Sam Dekker's lay up.
The Hoosiers would get close, but wouldn't get another lead as the Badgers hit 9 of 12 free throws down the stretch to lock the game up.
Ryan Evans led the way with 16 points and 8 rebounds. On Sunday the Badgers will play Ohio State for the Big 10 title.
