Admirals end weekend with 4-2 loss to Chicago Wolves

ROSEMONT, Illinois — Goalie Max Lagace stopped 33 shots to lead the Chicago Wolves to a 4-2 win over the Admirals Sunday at Allstate Arena.

The Wolves have won five straight games. Lagace earned his first career win against the Admirals in his sixth game against Milwaukee.

The loss went to Ads goalie Jake Paterson, who played his first game in the AHL since Mar. 20, 2016. It was the third AHL game of his career and the first he played with the Admirals. The loss snapped Milwaukee’s two-game points streak.

Milwaukee scored the first goal of the game at 6:54 of the first period. Derek Army’s shot from the right circle hot the left post and spilled into the slot where Pierre-Cedric Labrie buried it into the net for his second goal of the season. Army and Mark Zengerle recorded the assists.

Chicago thought it had tied the game at 12:35 of the first when Jake Walman’s shot beat Paterson. After a video review, the goal was overturned, keeping the Ads in the lead.

The Wolves did tie the game, however, at 13:53 of the first period. Beau Bennett slammed a rebound of a Walman shot into the net for his fourth goal of the year.

The Wolves claimed the lead at 7:43 of the second period when Tobias Lindberg shot a deflected puck into the net for his third goal of the season. Then, Walman did score a goal which counted at 8:55 of the second period to give Chicago a 3-1 lead.

Emil Pettersson cut the deficit with a goal at 13:09 for the Admirals. Pettersson slid the puck along the goal line for his eighth goal of the season. Frederick Gaudreau and Anthony Richard picked up the helpers.

Wolves forward Paul Thompson scored an empty-net goal with 1:35 remaining in the third period to close the scoring.

Milwaukee visits Cleveland Fri., Dec. 22. The Admirals next home game is Wed., Dec. 27 against Chicago at Panther Arena.
