A "crushing" defeat: While watching a demolition, Packers fans reminded of Sunday`s loss

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- It is safe to say a lot of people experienced a twisting feeling in their stomach as they watched the Packers give away a trip to the Super Bowl Sunday, January 18th. The Packers fell to the Seattle Seahawks in overtime. For some, getting over such a tough loss may take some work.

At first, you couldn't understand what you were seeing. It was too hard to focus on the reality and the gravity of the situation. The Green Bay Packers season was coming to an end.

"I can't even find the right words for it. The last five minutes is all it really took for things to go really kind of wrong," Robert Johnson of Fredonia said.

You could call it a collapse, and fans could feel it.

"Your chest gets crushed and you can't talk," a Packers fan said.

"It was very disappointing," a Packers fan said.

As folks watched a demolition Monday, January 19th -- just one day removed from the shocking loss, they were reminded of what it was like to watch the Packers season abruptly come to an end.

But...

"This one looks like a controlled destruction," Johnson said.

The Packers loss wasn't planned, and could take longer to clean up. But John Pulvermacher has a point.

"They are still our favorite team right?" Pulvermacher said.

As much as life reminds you of what went wrong, there is constructive work to do.

"It's got to pass. Got to look on to what's going to happen next year, who they are going to keep, what they are going to do -- much like this (demolition). By the end of the day, they will have this torn down," Johnson said.

And for a true Packers fan, the alternative isn't really an option.

"You have to let it go," a Packers fan said.

One fan told FOX6's Jonathan Gregg he'll live with the loss and look to the future. He says anyone who can't isn't a true Packers fan.
