Young girls tell story from on board Carnival cruise ship Triumph
ALABAMA (CNN) -- Two young friends became famous as they waved to the world from the deck of the stranded Carnival cruise ship Triumph. Now they are back home and telling the tale of a vacation they will never forget.
12-year-old Rebekah Poret and 10-year-old Allie Taylor were the ones behind a very public wave hello from the top of the crippled cruise ship Triumph -- telling their moms and everyone watching they were okay.
Now, exclusive pictures from the wee hours of Friday morning show the much-anticipated reunion with their mothers, caught on camera.
A hot shower and short nap later found them a little weary and a little more worldly.
On the cruise with their fathers, Allie and Rebekah came home with unsettling stories and pictures to prove it -- like one taken when the ship's engine was on fire.
"We were scared. We jumped out of bed, put our clothes on, and we ran," the girls said.
It got worse from there. Raw sewage, hot rooms, cold food and fear they couldn't shake.
"I thought we were going to tip over in case the tug boat got out of control cause it was dark outside," the girls said.
Rebekah and Allie are cruise veterans with eight trips between them. The Triumph was their only bad experience.
For now, it's back home and back to school for the girls, with an incredible story to tell.
