With help from neighbors, police able to quickly arrest armed robbery suspect on south side

MILWAUKEE -- Milwaukee police say with the help of several citizens, they were able to arrest an armed robbery suspect on the city's south side.

Officers responded to a business in the 3900 block of W. Greenfield Avenue for a report of an armed robbery around 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, August 9th.

Police say a suspect inside the business, armed with a knife, approached the clerk and demanded money.

The suspect took the cash register and fled the scene on foot.

Responding officers and citizens in the nearby neighborhood saw the suspect running away and were able to catch up with him in the 3700 block of W. Branting Lane -- where he was arrested.

The suspect is a 30-year-old Milwaukee man and a convicted felon with a previous armed robbery conviction.

MPD will present the case for charges to the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office in the coming days.
