Wisconsin woman pleads not guilty in daughter's stabbing

MADISON (AP) -- A Fitchburg woman accused of stabbing her 6-year-old daughter seven times has pleaded not guilty to attempted murder.

Thirty-year-old Tasha D. Harmon appeared for a brief hearing Wednesday before Dane County Circuit Judge David Flanagan. He ordered that Harmon stand trial on a charge of attempted first-degree intentional homicide.

According to the criminal complaint, Harmon told police she heard voices screaming and conducted a ``spiritual cleaning'' of her house before stabbing her daughter, Adrianna, seven times in the chest and back, on Aug. 13, puncturing her lung. The complaint says she then stabbed herself in the chest and throat.

Adrianna was released from a Madison hospital on Monday.

A trial will be set at a later date before Circuit Judge Nicholas McNamara.
