Winners collect their prize in the Cream Puff Giveaway
WEST ALLIS (WITI) -- It's a staple in the State Fair diet, the Cream Puff! Lucky winners in the FOX6 Cream Puff Giveaway rolled up to State Fair Park to collect their prize before the big Opening Day!
"I've been trying for years and this is my first time so we had to get up at 6 this morning and get out here," says Cheryl Diaz as she collected her Cream Puffs.
600 people won a 6-pack of Cream Puffs by registering on FOX6Now.com. There were even winners from across the country, including Tim Lester who flew back home to Wisconsin after moving to California.
"He looks forward to that when he comes here. He said he has to have his Cream Puff," says Tim's mother Rita Lester.
People depend on the classic taste of a Cream Puff, as they've been made exactly the same for the past 89 years!
"With the freshest cream, the freshest bakery products, and they`re just made constantly all day long," says Dave Schmidt with the Wisconsin Baker's Association. But how you eat them is up for debate.
"I lick around the sides, I push it down where it`s mouth size, and I bite it, delicious," says Cream Puff Giveaway winner Leaner Riggins.
"I usually pull it apart and at one half and then the other," says Tim Lester.
If you didn't win in the giveaway, don't worry there will be plenty of Cream Puffs at the fair. About 365,000 are sold each year!
"Our transactions are about every 11 seconds on the service line. So we go through Cream Puffs consistently and they`re fresh all the time," says Schmidt.
It's that fresh and delicious taste that keeps many coming back to the Wisconsin State Fair year after year.
