"Why would you leave?" Police release photo of vehicle involved in hit-and-run near 90th & Bender



MILWAUKEE -- Milwaukee police on Monday afternoon, October 26th released a photo of the vehicle involved in a fatal hit-and-run crash that occurred on Sunday, October 25th near 90th and Bender Avenue.

It happened around 3:30 p.m.

Police say an 89-year-old Milwaukee woman, identified as Geraldine McBride, was walking across the street and was struck by a older burgundy four-door vehicle.

Police say the photo you see above is the actual vehicle involved in this incident.

The vehicle fled and was last seen driving southbound.



McBride was taken to a hospital -- where she died from her injuries.

Erik McBride, the victim's grandson, tells FOX6 News his grandmother was out on one of her daily walks when the crash happened.

"Why would you leave? What are you leaving from? The truth? I think everybody around here is just feeling a little uneasy. You know, a little upset. Everybody seems like they`re kind of...kind of in a daze, just kinda figuring things out as much as we are," Erik McBride said.

Mary Anne Tally heard the crash on Sunday afternoon.

"I heard a little 'squeech' and then I heard a scream. My brother told me this lady just got hit, and I just ran out the door. I could see she was breathing. She was unconscious. She was bleeding, and I just, like -- 'Don`t move. Don`t move,'" Tally said.

The family of the victim has $1,000 to offer as a reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction in this case.
