Whitewater man killed in head-on crash involving a semi early Thursday morning

WALWORTH COUNTY (WITI) -- Walworth County Sheriff's officials say a 36-year-old Whitewater man is dead following a crash involving a semi that occurred on Thursday morning, November 6th.

It happened on Highway 20, about one-tenth of a mile west of Town Line Road in the Town of Troy, shortly before 6:00 a.m.

Sheriff's officials say first responders found the sole occupant of a vehicle deceased at the wheel of his car. He has been identified as 36-year-old Titus Greenwood of Whitewater.

Officials say Greenwood was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the head-on crash involving a semi.

Sheriff's officials say their initial investigation has revealed Greenwood's vehicle was headed eastbound on Highway 20 when it crossed the center line and entered the westbound lane of Highway 20. That vehicle was struck head-on by a 2013 semi truck and trailer operated by United Rental Company out of East Chicago, Indiana.

The semi's driver, a 38-year-old Racine man, was taken to the hospital, but he was not admitted.

Highway 20 was closed to traffic for about five hours as crews investigated this crash.

An autopsy is planned to determine Greenwood's cause of death.
