Waukesha County Sheriff's officials search for suspect

WAUKESHA (WITI) -- Waukesha County Sheriff's officials on Sunday, June 23rd were searching for a suspect in the woods in the area of Balmer Park -- located near Lyndsay Road and Woods Edge Drive in the city of Pewaukee.

Officials say they received a tip advising that a suspect involved in an ongoing investigation was camping in the woods.

The Tactical Enforcement Unit was called out to complete a search of the area.

The Waukesha County Sheriff's Department was assisted in the search by several other municipalities including; City of Waukesha Police Department, City of Brookfield Police Department, Village of Hartland Police Department, Village of Menomonee Falls Police Department and Village of Pewaukee Police Department as well the Pewaukee Fire Department.

A reverse 911 call was made to the residents in that area at approximately 1:50 p.m. advising them that we were looking for a possible suspect and to call 911 if they saw anything suspicious.

A search of the entire area was completed with no one located at this time.

After the search, the residents were notified that the area was cleared and they could resume normal activities.

It is unknown if this tip was valid or not, however all necessary precautions were taken to insure the safety of that community.

The tip received is still under investigation at this time.
