Water floods street near MLK Drive and Chambers after pipe that feeds sprinkler system malfunctioned

MILWAUKEE -- Water flooded the street near Martin Luther King Drive and Chambers Street on Monday, August 3rd as a result of a pipe that feeds a sprinkler system that malfunctioned.

Milwaukee Department of Public Works officials were on the scene.

We're told this happened in front of a daycare, and also impacted a church in the area.

A man affiliated with that church told FOX6 News the pipe that malfunctioned is a "fire line" that feeds the sprinkler system for the building.

We're told the church's basement suffered flooding damage, but it's unclear how extensive that damage is at this point.
