Wash. Co. Sheriff's Office seeking suspect responsible for burglary

WASHINGTON COUNTY (WITI) -- Washington County Sheriff's officials are seeking the suspect responsible for a residential burglary on Sandy Ridge Road in the Town of Barton.

It happened on Wednesday, August 28th, just before 1:30 p.m.

The Sheriff’s Office was informed that two teenage boys were at home sleeping when one of them was awoken by noises inside the residence.  He went to investigate the noises and appeared to have startled the intruder who subsequently attacked him.  The teenager and his brother were tied up inside the residence.

The intruder stole a vehicle from the residence and fled the area.  The suspect obtained a phone number from the teenagers of someone that he could call for them.   He then contacted the relative notifying them that the teenagers were tied up at the residence and that they were unharmed.  The teenagers did not receive any significant injuries during this incident.  They were not able to provide a detailed suspect description because he was wearing a mask.

This case remains under investigation by the Washington County Sheriff’s Office.  No additional information will be released at this time.
