Utility emergency shuts down portion of I-94 in both directions

DELAFIELD -- A utility emergency near Delafield at Highway 83 is severely affecting traffic on I-94 in both directions. According to the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, delays stretch out over three miles on I-94 east and west between Hwy. 83 and County Hwy. SS.

DOT officials say the road had to be shut down at Maple Avenue due to a downed power line.

Detours are as follows:

Westbound I-94: Exit County SS, north to Golf Road, west on Golf Road to WIS 83, south on WIS 83 to I-94 westbound.

Eastbound I-94: Exit WIS 83, north on WIS 83 to Golf Road, east on Golf Road to County SS, south on County SS to eastbound I-94. 

Crews are working expeditiously, and expect to have the roadway reopened by 5:30 p.m. Thursday evening.
