Two people hurt after explosion, fire destroys home in Glendale

GLENDALE -- Two people were hurt after an explosion and fire destroyed a home in Glendale Saturday evening, May 26th.

Multiple emergency crews from the North Shore Fire Department were called to the scene on Hampton Ave. just east of Port Washington Rd.

A neighbor tells FOX6 News there was an explosion around 6:15 p.m. He said the force knocked him off his chair in his home near Hampton Ave.

Officials tell FOX6 News, a man in his 80s and his daughter were inside the home at the time of the explosion. Both were taken to Columbia St. Mary's Hospital for treatment. There's no word on their condition at this time.

Additionally, a neighbor and a firefighter were also injured in this incident.

Two other homes were scorched by flames from the fire. Six homes near the explosion site had to be evacuated.

The investigation into this incident continues.
