Two face charges in heroin overdose death of Sheboygan man

SHEBOYGAN (WITI) -- Two people are criminally charged in Sheboygan County in connection with the death of 43-year-old William Widucki. The suspects, 34-year-old Leanel Holder of Calumet City, IL and 26-year-old Monica Sanchez of Sheboygan, each face a charge of first-degree reckless homicide.

According to the criminal complaint, Sanchez is the niece of the victim. She would get heroin from Holder and sell it to others. She also supplied Widucki with drugs from time to time.

The complaint says early on December 29, 2013, Widucki's girlfriend woke up and found Widucki unresponsive. An autopsy showed "morphine levels were a substantial factor in (Widucki's) death." Apparently heroin almost immediately metabolizes into morphine in the human body.

The complaint indicates an acquaintance of Sanchez told police she saw Sanchez the day after Widucki died. "She stated Monica was 'freaking out' as Monica said she had given Widucki a large foil bindle of heroin the evening he died but didn't think the quantity was enough to kill him."

If convicted, Holder and Sanchez each face up to 40 years in prison and $100,000 in fines.
