Two children remain hospitalized after weekend crash
WAUKESHA (WITI) -- Officials say two children remain in the hospital after a crash in Waukesha on Saturday, May 4th.
A seven-year-old suffered a head injury and is in critical condition, while a four-year-old suffered a broken leg and remains in the hospital.
The children's mother was also hospitalized after the crash. Her condition is unknown at this time.
The identities of those involved have not yet been released.
The accident happened in the 700 block of Main Street in Waukesha just before 10:30 a.m.
"She was going pretty fast and she was swerving. I thought she was going to take out the light pole," neighbor Bob Stark said.
"I heard a little crunch. I didn't know she clipped this black truck that was down there. She shot straight into the tree," Stark added.
Neighbors say at least one of the children was in a car seat at the time of the crash.
"She was screaming my kid, my kid, my kid," Carlos Cindron said.
Neighbors told FOX6 News this is not the first crash on the block. They say several accidents have taken out light poles, trees and parked cars in the past.
"People are not slowing down and I've had it up to here with it," Stark said.
Waukesha police say accident reconstruction specialists and detectives from the Criminal Investigation Division were called in to investigate the crash scene. There is no word yet as to what caused the mother to lose control of her car.
