Tools for Learning Project provides hundreds of backpacks for Milwaukee schools

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- There are some Milwaukee students who will have new backpacks and supplies when they return to school.

It's all thanks to volunteers from AT&T and their Tools for Learning Project.

On Friday, August 29th they handed out about 660 backpacks in Milwaukee.

One principal whose school got the backpacks and supplies today, says the donation not only helps the students -- but also the teachers.

"If they don't have a pencil, if they don't have paper, they're not able to do their job effectively and learn effectively and it makes it difficult for teachers too, you may not realize it but if i'm scrambling to find a pencil I'm not thinking about the mathematical equation I'm trying to help them solve," said Kimberly Taylor, Principal in Student Technology and Academics.

The backpacks were delivered to 6 Milwaukee schools on Friday.
