Thousands line up to see H-D 110th Anniversary Parade
MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- The cheers of thousands of spectators at the Harley-Davidson 110th Anniversary Parade could only be topped by the thunderous roar of thousands of motorcycles Saturday morning, August 31st.
Various cultures and generations of enthusiasts gathered in downtown Milwaukee to watch the hour and a half long parade.
"There's no two Harleys the same, even though there's going to be many thousands of them here today, they are all individual," said Brian "Pop" Brownett.
"It's just exciting to see all those wonderful old antique bikes they restore and they just keep history alive and that's what's really exciting," added Annamaria Daney.
Many spectators had a vested interest in the parade, as family members and loved ones showed off their prized bikes.
"My husband belongs to the Heritage Badger Antique Motorcycle Club," said Daney. "They'll be leading with the 1920's and 30's motorcycles."
The powerful machines dipped down Wisconsin Ave. and peeled onto Milwaukee St. as motorcycle lovers from across the globe reveled in the event.
"I'm originally from Sydney, Australia," said Brownett. "We've all got Harley-Davidsons and it's great to be sort of where they're made, where they came from and it's a buzz to see the excitement and the masses of people involved."
Many spectators say the energy and excitement of the event gave the parade an atmosphere like no other. Some say the celebration could be described at the pinnacle of the Anniversary weekend.
