Technology helps Milwaukee police locate, arrest three armed robbery suspects
MILWAUKEE -- Milwaukee police, with the help of OnStar technology, located and arrested three suspects wanted in an armed robbery on the city’s west side.
District Three officers responded to the area of 57th and Mckinley around 7:20 p.m. on January 20th and talked to the victim, a 55-year-old Milwaukee woman. She was inside her parked 2015 Chevrolet Traverse when a car from behind struck her vehicle.
The victim got out of her car and was confronted by a suspect who displayed a gun and took her keys. Another suspect joined the first suspect and fled in the victim’s Traverse.
A third suspect followed in a Mercury Mountaineer that had been stolen on January 12. Using the Traverse’s OnStar technology, officers found the car and the three suspects near N. Holton and E. Townsend a short time later.
The suspects, a 16-year-old male, an 18-year-old male, and a 20-year-old male, were taken into custody and officers recovered a BB gun and a mask from the suspects.
The Mercury Mountaineer was also recovered near N. 52 and W. Galena.
MPD will present this case to the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office in the coming days for charges
