South Milwaukee fire: 1 rescued, taken to hospital

SOUTH MILWAUKEE, Wis. - The South Milwaukee Fire Department rescued one person from a fire on Saturday afternoon, Feb. 1.
What we know:
It happened near 8th and Milwaukee around 3:20 p.m. SMFD said firefighters arrived to heavy smoke and flames. Most of the building's units sustained fire or fire-related damage. A cat was found dead inside.

What we don't know:
The person who was rescued was taken to a hospital, but their condition is unclear.
The fire remains under investigation. SMFD said it does not suspect arson.
