Someone reportedly rifled through homicide victim's pockets after triple shooting: "Horrific thing"

MILWAUKEE -- One person was killed and two others were hurt in a shooting late Monday night, September 4th at a gas station on Milwaukee's north side. It happened near Teutonia and Florist just before midnight.

Police say 24-year-old Deantoine Nash was shot and pronounced dead at the scene. Two other victims were taken to hospitals for treatment.

Police said a 27-year-old man suffered multiple gunshot wounds, and he was in serious condition after the shooting. A 20-year-old man was also struck.

The owner of the gas station and his children rushed to the business after learning what happened. They reviewed the surveillance tape and said it all began with an argument between customers.

"They talked inside, had some sort of disagreement. Then one of the persons came out shooting. It started once they had exited the store. There was a shootout between the two basically," said Rida Batool, the gas station owner's daughter.

There were customers inside the store hiding from the gunfire.

"This is horrible," said a customer.

Customers said it was eerie being at the gas station such a short time after the shooting.

"You feel a little shaken up. You feel a little weary," said a customer.

Not only disheartened by the violence, Batool said she's angered by the cold-hearted nature of some people. She said someone went through the victim's pockets while he was laying on the floor.

"That was the most horrific thing to be doing," said Batool. "I don't understand how somebody could loot like that. They just took whatever they found."
