Shorewood police: Two Milwaukee residents robbed on Oak Leaf Trail

SHOREWOOD -- Shorewood police are warning people who use the Oak Leaf Trail after a robbery occurred there on Monday, March 28th.

It happened around 5:30 p.m. on the concrete foot bridge which is between the Milwaukee River and Estabrook Parkway.

Police say two Milwaukee residents were robbed of valuables by an unknown male.

As they were crossing the bridge, they were approached from behind by a man who was wearing  a black hooded sweatshirt and dark pants.

The man held what was described as a "hard object" against the back of one of the victim's heads and demanded their property.

After obtaining property, the man told the victims to keep walking and not turn around. This incident was reported to the police approximately 20 minutes after it happened.

Police are now warning others who use the Oak Leaf Trail -- saying that while incidents like this are rare, they can happen.

Police are stressing that folks take the following personal safety precautions when taking a walk or a jog.
