Shocking: Animal rights group shoots undercover video at dairy farm showing workers abusing cows

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- An animal rights group is calling for action after they say they caught workers at a Wisconsin dairy farm abusing cows.

Hidden camera video was shot at Andrus Dairy in Birnamwood in Shawano County by an undercover worker with the "Mercy for Animals" group.

The video shows cows being kicked and hit, and even shows their tails being cut off with pruning shears.

The milk from the farm is used by Ohio-based Great Lakes Cheese -- one of the largest cheese companies in the United States.

"No socially responsible cooperation should support dairy operations that beat, whip, stab, shock or drag animals. Great Lakes Cheese must take immediate action to prevent further abuse at its dairy suppliers," Nick Cooney with Mercy for Animals said during a press conference in Milwaukee on Wednesday, November 12th.

In a statement, Great Lakes Cheese says it will not accept any more milk from Andrus Dairy.

This, as the Shawano County District Attorney has declined to file charges against the dairy farm and its workers.
