SHEBOYGAN -- Sheboygan police have identified a woman killed in a fire at the Embers Apartment complex that happened on Sunday, August 21st.

The fire happened around 4:15 a.m. at the apartment complex located on South Business Drive near Carmen Avenue.

The body of 62-year-old Deborah Marsh of Sheboygan was found by firefighters in one of the apartment units.

The Sheboygan County medical examiner has determined Marsh died as a result of smoke and soot inhalation.

The State Fire Marshal is investigating this fire. Sheboygan police say the origin of the fire is undetermined as of Tuesday, August 23rd -- however, police say it does not appear to be suspicious.

More than 40 people were displaced by the fire. Fire damaged half of the complex. The other half was damaged by smoke and water.

The American Red Cross had to open a temporary shelter at Farnsworth Middle School in Sheboygan to assist those displaced as a result of the fire.

On Tuesday, a MARC, or multiple agency resource center was opened. Representatives from the Housing Authority, register of deeds along with other community groups like the Salvation Army were on hand to assist displaced residents.
