Search for elderly man in Center Lake is now recovery effort
KENOSHA (WITI) -- The Kenosha County Sheriff's Department has confirmed with FOX6 News that dive crews were searching Center Lake in the Town of Salem Kenosha County for an elderly man on Tuesday, September 10th.
The search is now being called a recovery mission.
Kenosha Dispatch on Tuesday afternoon received a call that a 75-year-old man was swimming, went under water and did not resurface.
Preliminary reports indicate that Clide Routheaux was out boating with family members and friends on Center Lake. While on the lake, they decided to go swimming off the side of the boat.
Routheaux reportedly entered the water at a depth of about 22 feet.
The investigation is expected to be led by the Wisconsin DNR after the recovery mission is concluded.
Agencies will continue to search until dark. If Routheaux is not found before dark, recovery efforts will continue Wednesday morning.
