Robbery suspect held by residents until Milwaukee police arrived

MILWAUKEE -- Several men held a robber and his gun after the suspect shot their friend while they were working on a car. This all played out at 32nd and Lincoln just after midnight Sunday, May 27th.

The 36-year-old man was shot during a robbery attempt in the alley. Police say the 19-year-old suspect was immediately overpowered by his would-be victims, who were working on an auto in a garage, along with several people from a nearby home. 

The suspect's gun was taken away and he was held until Milwaukee police arrived.

Police say the suspect has an extensive and violent arrest record.

The victim was shot twice, but his injuries are not life threatening and he is in stable condition at the hospital.
