The iPhone is super popular and packed with features, but you probably aren’t using all of them. For instance, did you know you can teach Siri to pronounce your friend’s names properly or make free international phone calls? Here are some tips and tricks you need to know to make you an iPhone pro.

FREE INTERNATIONAL PHONE CALLS USING FACETIME AUDIO

Find your contact, then click the phone icon under facetime – you’ll be connected just like a phone call, but your voice travels over WiFi so you can skip expensive roaming charges.

LEVEL UP

There’s a level hidden in the compass – just swipe to the left. Your pictures will thank you.

PHOTO FILTERS

Make your pictures more colorful with iOS 7′s built in filters. Next time you’re taking a picture, just click the three little circles below the viewfinder and you’ll get a real time preview of how your photo will look in various filters.
Just remember to switch back to “none” when you’re done.

TAKE INSTAGRAM PERFECT PICS

Ever take a perfect picture, then when you try sharing it in Instagram it doesn’t actually fit right? iOS 7 lets you take “square” pictures so you don’t have to worry about cropping. Just swipe the photo viewfinder to the left to select “square.”

BOLD LETTERS

Letters went on a diet in iOS 7  - they are now super skinny and and can sometimes be tough to read. To change that, make them bold. Go into SETTINGS > GENERAL > ACCESSIBILITY > and switch “BOLD TEXT” to on! When your phone restarts, everything will be easier to read.

TURN OFF MOVEMENTS

Also in the same menu, you can turn off all of the on-screen movements and transitions you see when opening and closing apps. Just go into SETTINGS > GENERAL > ACCESSIBILITY > and slide the “REDUCE MOTION” toggle to green. Some people say this also helps save on battery life.

SHARE INSTANTLY WITH AIRDROP

Use AirDrop once and you’ll be hooked. It allows you to share pictures with other iPhone users instantly without going through text or email. Just slide up from the bottom of the screen to turn it on and have your friend do the same thing. Then select a photo or a few to share and wait for your contact’s head to pop up on your share menu. Click their name and you will see your selected pics show up instantly on their device. This works on Macs and iPads too!

TEACH SIRI TO PRONOUNCE PROPERLY

If she is constantly mispronouncing a friend’s name, do this. Say “SHOW ME CONTACT INFO FOR (CONTACT).” Then say, “THAT’S NOT HOW YOU PRONOUNCE THAT.” Siri will ask you what the proper pronunciation is.

DO NOT DISTURB

When you can’t be bothered, turn on DO NOT DISTURB. It silences all incoming texts, phone calls and notifications. Just slide up from the bottom of the screen to bring up the Control Center and click the moon. Just don’t forget to turn it off when you’re ready to be notified again. You can also schedule Do Not Disturb to happen at a same time each night – say, when you’re sleeping, by going into the Settings. You can also make it so calls from your Favorites and repeat callers will always come through, even when Do Not Disturb is turned on.
