Red Cross called out to assist family following house fire near 70th & Capitol
MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- The American Red Cross was called out to assist a family following a house fire that occurred on Thursday afternoon, October 30th.
It happened at a home near 70th and Capitol.
A fire official tells FOX6 News two children who lived at the home came home from school and smelled smoke. They went to a neighbor's house and called 911.
Fire officials came upon an electrical fire in one of the home's bedrooms. We're told there was a lot of smoke damage, but minimal damage to the home itself.
The family has been displaced as a result of the fire, and the Red Cross is assisting them.
Unfortunately, the family dog died in the fire.
