Racine woman fights to keep sex offenders out of her neighborhood

RACINE CO. (WITI) -- In a few days, a Racine County Court will release exactly where a convicted sex offender will be placed.

Originally, 44 year-old Michael Fink was placed in a home just around the corner from one of his victims.  She spoke out against the placement and now Fink must be placed somewhere else.

The woman is now going door to door in her neighborhood with a mission.  She wants to stop the state from putting any violent sex offenders in her district.  She's handing out flyers for a community meeting on Thursday, February 21st.

"By this huge mistake that was made, I hope we can make some change in our city," she told Fox 6.

Her neighbor, Mary, is also handing out flyers.  Mary lives near the house on Lathrop where Fink was originally placed.  She's worried another sexual offender could be placed in the home.

"I don't know if gonna put someone else in there, because they have leased it for one year," said Mary.

Both women hope being proactive will protect their neighborhood.

The meeting is at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 21st at Zion Lutheran Church, 3805 Kinze Ave., Racine.
