Racine teen accused of assaulting girl at Caledonia school

CALEDONIA (WITI) -- A 17-year-old Racine boy faces multiple criminal charges in connection with an alleged assault that happened at REAL School -- which shares a building with Olympia Brown Elementary School in the Village of Caledonia.

The accused is Talon Mascaretti. He faces charges of first-degree sexual assault of a child, false imprisonment, two counts of felony intimidation of a victim and child enticement.

According to the criminal complaint, the alleged assault happened on Thursday, March 6th. The complaint indicates Mascaretti ran into the alleged victim in the hallway on the first floor of the school. The complaint says he "had taken a 'bunch of Xanax pills' and offered her one. She stated she refused." The girl also told police "that Mascaretti had been smoking 'weed'."

The complaint indicates moments later, Mascaretti dragged the girl into the boiler room and then proceeded to assault her. The girl told police "she tried to scream, but the machines in the room 'were super loud.'" She also indicated "she stayed in the boiler room until after school was over."

The complaint says the next morning, Mascaretti called the girl seven times -- and allegedly threatened to hurt the girl and her family.

If convicted on the charges, Mascaretti faces up to 25 years in prison and $100,000 in fines. He is due back in court for a preliminary hearing on April 2nd.
