Racine man accused of stealing, threatening store security

MOUNT PLEASANT -- Police in Mount Pleasant arrest a man who allegedly stole merchandise from a Kohl's store and threatened that he had a gun when confronted by store security. The accused in this case is 34-year-old Ricardo Mendoza of Racine.

Officers were called to the Kohl's on Washington Ave. just before 2:30 p.m. on Friday, June 26th. Mendoza had already fled the scene.

A short time later, officers located Mendoza driving his vehicle. When they approached the vehicle, he jumped out and fled on foot. The Racine Police Department along with their K-9 squad assisted with the search. They eventually found Mendoza hiding in a relative's residence.

Mendoza was arrested for robbery and recklessly endangering safety. He also received a citation for operating a motor vehicle with a suspended driver’s license.

This case has been referred to the Racine County District Attorney’s Office.
